You can choose a particular model and matched set with a known starting point. Ask about the tire’s specifications, production date, and applicable manufacturer warranty. Warranty details vary; a mileage figure is not a guarantee of the mileage you will get.
What to ask about a used tire
Ask for its measured tread depth, age/date code, condition, prior repair history, and inspection findings. Tread appearance alone does not reveal all damage. A tire with an unknown history needs more scrutiny, not a faster decision.
Think beyond today’s price
How many tires need replacement? Do the remaining tires have compatible specifications and wear? Is the vehicle AWD? Will another replacement soon mean a second mobile visit? These questions help you compare the total practical cost.
