TIRE BASICS

Wheel balancing vs. alignment

What balancing corrects, what alignment corrects, and how to describe the symptoms you notice.

Balancing and alignment often get mentioned together, but they address different parts of the way a vehicle rolls.

Balancing concerns the rotating assembly

Balancing addresses uneven weight distribution in a tire-and-wheel assembly. Equipment measures the imbalance so a technician can correct it. Vibration can be a clue, but damage and other mechanical issues can also cause vibration.

Alignment concerns wheel angles

An alignment measures and adjusts the vehicle’s wheel geometry to applicable specifications. Pulling, unusual wear, or a steering wheel that sits off-center may justify an assessment. Installing tires does not automatically correct those angles.

Describe the symptom, not just the service you think you need

Tell the provider when the vibration or pull happens, which speeds bring it on, whether the problem began after an impact, and what recent work was done. That is more useful than guessing at the fix.

AnySize currently offers mobile tire installation and the services listed on our site. We do not offer balancing, alignment, or tire rotation. Arrange those services separately with an equipped provider when needed.
